I did have the movies boananza that I had promised myself for the week end . 4 movies in a day does have some effect on you (got red eyes staring at the screen for such a long time).


1. Spell Bound - A wonderful documentary about the 1999 US spell bee championships. It traces the path of 8 participants through the competition and its a sheer delight to watch . You will surely have your own favourite and will be biting your nails as they spell out words (were they spelling out English words) . Real Emotions. Real Excitement.

Verdict : Must Watch

2. Beyond Suspicion- The most misleading title that I have ever come across in mainstream cinema (It's usually a porn film phenomenon) . What was expected to be a dark thriller turned out be a romantic movie !! But I feel it will be excellentreference material for our Kollywood dream merchants.

Verdict : Bore

3.Vaastu Shastra - OK. This one is not a remake of "The Shining" as the trailers had suggested. I think that some one told the director that all that he needed for a scary movie was a spooky house, jerky editing , dark cinematography, sterotyped characters/ incidents and not a compelling screen play . The film does not go anywhere and suddenly hurtles towards climax as probably RGV would have tot that they were wasting raw stock. They must have been kidding with the tag line which said Legal Notice: Film makers are not responsible if anything happens to you in the movie hall. I tot the only thing that could happen was people walking out.

Verdict : Enjoy the trailers

4. Irreversible - Grossly real, unbelievable cinematography and great sound . It's an experience provided u have the guts to sit through it. If you liked Clock work Orange , Natural Born Killers,
Kids and Bully you will freak out on this.

Verdict : Unforgettable
