Last night I was doing what I am usually up to . Don't get any ideas. Just watching TV.

I have worked in a newspaper and I know how important it is to have a news story which is "exclusive" and "breaking". 24 hour news channels go to any lengths to "break" stories. However what they do at times is help us breaking into a smile .

Famous Indian DJ was arrested yesterday in Dubai for possessing drugs.

This story was broken first by Times Now. It was picked up by CNN IBN shortly and NDTV much later. You can ask what can be funny in this breaking news( it's another matter that whether this is worthy enough to be broken on prime time news) . Here comes the fun.

Times Now started the scroll stating DJ Akil held for possessing drugs in Dubai ( I don't remember the scroll verbatim but this was the gist of the break). After a few minutes ,it became DJ Aqueel held for possessing drugs in Dubai.By this CNN -IBN had sniffed the story and it had a scroll saying DJ Aqeel held for possessing drugs in Dubai.

Now someone in Times Now realised that they had not got the name right. So again after a few minutes it became DJ Aqeel held for possessing drugs in Dubai. Now CNN IBN also got confused about the spelling. It moved to DJ Aqueel held for possessing drugs in Dubai. Finally both of them settled to DJ Aqeel held for possessing drugs in Dubai

NDTV was oblivious to the story being broken in the other channels. So to counter the late mover disadvantage ,its scrolls had value added information. It quoted his wife who was with him stating that "he was arrested not for possession of drugs but for having pornographic DVDs.

Tell you prime time news is really funny.
